FAQS

FAQs

Why should I consider a subscription?
There’s a time and a place for each kind of photo shoot and one-off sessions definitely serve a purpose and can be perfect for specific kinds of campaigns.

On the flip side, there’s a special magic + understanding + continuity that happens when we work together over an extended period of time. That way we can form a deeper connection and I can really get to know who you are as an individual, or an organization, how your target market reacts to specific kinds of imagery, and what we can do to make each shoot better than the last.

A great example of this is how I worked consistently with a nonprofit on a fundraising campaign that started by raising $32,000 the first year and as we honed it over the years it’s now consistently raising over $100,000 every year. You can read more about that on the blog, here.

What, exactly, IS a subscription?
The needs of every business or organization are so different and I 100% understand that. I’ll work with you to fine tune the exact subscription that makes sense for you, but in order to qualify for the 20% discount per shoot the minimum requirements are a one-year agreement that includes at least 2 Full Day or Half Day shoots or 4 Two-Hour or One-Hour shoots.

Is the image license really unlimited?
Yep! I know that the image needs of a small business are constantly evolving and there are frequently last minute advertising opportunities or image needs that you need to jump on. I want you to be able to take advantage of them without having to track every license for every image, since I know that’s a daunting task in the middle of all the other daunting tasks we have on our plates every day, so I’m happy to make this part super straight forward!

How many final images are created during a shoot?
This varies based on each shoot’s specific goals. Sometimes we’re shooting really quickly and building a large library of images, other times we’re really focused on perfecting a few key images for specific uses, but 15-30 final images per hour of shooting is a good average.

Do you do payment plans?
As a small business owner myself I completely understand all the financial hoops we jump through and I never want an upfront cost to be a barrier for you. I’m more than happy to come up with a plan that’s feasible and fair all around.

What is the shared image license discount?
I offer a 20% discount on any shoot if you’re willing to sign model releases that allow the images from the shoot to also being included in my stock photography library. This means the photos have the possibility of being licensed by other companies/organizations/magazines/etc.

For example: if your company farms oysters on the Puget Sound the images we create from a stock shoot might be used 1: By your company (of course!) 2: In a magazine article about oyster farming 3: By a local tourism board 4: By a company that makes the gear used in the photos. 5: By an organization that focuses on environmental issues in the Puget Sound. 6: As a print on someone’s wall.

This option is really great if you have a more limited budget or if you’re fine with (or even stoked about!) the photos being used by multiple people in multiple ways.

The only thing required to qualify for this discount is for every subject in the shoot to sign a full model release.

This discount can also be stacked with the 20% subscription discount to create a 40% total discount.
